St. Francis de Sales Church

St. Francis De Sales is known for its warmth and welcoming spirit.  The parish has long and fascinating history since it started in 1849.  The Marianists, who presently staff the parish, came in 1985.  Please visit the history link for more information.  Besides the friendly atmosphere and hospitality of all its parishioners, St. Francis De Sales is known for having the largest free swinging bell ever poured in the U.S. A.  When it was built and dedicated in 1895, it weighed 35,000 pounds with dimensions of 7 feet tall and 9 feet at the base.  The story and now the myth, is that it broke windows the first time it was rung, and since then, It can only be rung with a hammer from the outside of the bell.
