About Us
Where it all started
Catherine McAuley, the founder of the Sisters of Mercy, built the first House of Mercy in Dublin, Ireland in 1827. H.O.M.E. is a House of Mercy but because it is also an outreach program, Environment was added to the name. The Program was established in September, 1976 in the Saint Francis de Sales neighborhood and continues today under the "umbrella" of De Sales Crossing.
A little bit about H.O.M.E.
Each day of each year, we at H.O.M.E.
receive an outpouring of love from the elderly we serve. In addition, we receive
the love, support, and encouragement extended by our dedicated Board members,
generous benefactors and enthusiastic volunteers, who provide direct ministry to
our clients. Many work on site with us or go (as visitors and Communion
distributors) to the apartments, homes, or nursing homes of our people.
Success through Collaboration
Our ministry is enhanced by networking with
-other Mercy and community agencies
-local health professionals who donate services
-grade/high school students who hold food drives
-parishes who provide holiday gifts and food
and our many friends who continue to make this program a success and a blessing from God.
"The poor need help today not next week!"
