What does it mean to me to be part of the De Sales Crossings Marianist Community?
To me it means to be part of something new in a formal way. We, as Marianists, have collaborated with other groups serving in the same ministry in the past, but this is the first time that the community\'s mission is to collaborate with others in the neighborhood. We live in a community where you have individuals working you have individuals working in social, educational,
and parish ministries. I am one of two members who does not work in the neighborhood. The challenge for me is to continue to collaborate with the others in the neighborhood.

The other interesting part is our community life. We are living in two houses, but we are one community. We use both houses as centers of prayer and meals (at Madison Road on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, and at Chapel Street on Wednesday and Friday). This has forced us to look at our community prayer life. We are trying different methods of communal prayer when we are at Chapel Street. We need to experience it for awhile and then evaluate it. One thing that is going on during the prayer time is a lot of faith sharing.

The hardest part of this community is the unknown. To be open to the Spirit and discerning this as a community is a real challenge for us. The question for us as a community, and I believe as a Society, is where is the Spirit leading us? The collaboration with other ministries and religious orders does influence our discernment on where the Spirit is leading us.
