I
joined the DeSales Crossings Community in January, 1999. During my time here I
celebrated my Golden Jubilee as a Marianist having professed vows in 1950.
The highlight of my Marianist life has been
the year of sabbatical studies at the Institute of Spirituality and Worship
(Jesuit School of Theology) at Berkley, California. |
When I first came to DeSales
Crossings Marianist Community, my main ministries were in parish music and as a
tutor. As Director of Music for more than two and one half years, I oversaw the
music and musicians for weddings, played parish funerals and other Masses, and
directed the two small choirs. In July I resigned this position.
I continue my second ministry as tutor at both Mercy Connections
with adults and St. Francis DeSales grade school. At the school I am available
to assist the teachers of the seventh and the eighth grades with various
learning activities among the students. Currently I am teaching piano to one
student at St. Francis DeSales Grade School. At Mercy Connections I have taken
up the editorship of "Making Connections," a newsletter appearing three times a
year. I am also available to help several senior citizens at San Marco
Apartments with their reading.
These ministries, mainly in English language arts, all use skills
and talents from my previous careers as teacher and musician. They continue to
bring me great joy daily because I am able to work with many wonderful people in
the East Walnut Hills area and help make a significant difference in their
lives. |
